Mental Health & Dementia

Since 1983, Care Unlimited has been advancing its approach to delivering specialised care for people with mental health problems, both older and younger people. Illnesses vary from dementia related conditions including Alzheimer’s, to psychoses in remission such as schizophrenia, manic depression (bi-polar), and obsessional neurosis. With such a variation in symptoms and needs, we carefully select through assessment suitability of the Home and their existing residents with new prospective clients and vice versa.

With such a variation in conditions and needs, we carefully place residents through a thorough pre-assessment for suitability of placement that will meet the specific needs of the individual. Important consideration is given to the mutual compatibility with existing residents.

Our Homes actively promote enablement and independence wherever possible to enhance the individual‚ quality of life. Social interaction and activities play a major role in our delivery of care and support, with close coordination with Weavers, our Horticulture and Resource Centre in Merstham, Surrey.

After 8 years of providing Learning Disabilties adult care at our Chaldon Rise Care Home, we have expanded into the field over the past few years with Ashtead Cottage Care Home, and now into Supported Living through our new arm Care Unlimited Dom Care. We deliver care and support to various learning disabilities as well as autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, Challenging Behaviour and ADHD.

Our care homes Chaldon Rise and Ashtead Cottage provide 24 hour support with specialised teams. Our project manager Susan Hill provides very in-depth knowledge of learning disabilities and provides valuable direction, advise and support to our team. Support heavily centres around the promotion of independence, and emphasis wherever possible on support, rather than strictly care. We extend the specialist care through innovative learning resources and development services/activities - see Horticulture and Resource Centre below.
